Good Home Cooked Chinese Food in simple surroundings
It was -20 degrees Celcius with the wind chill and I needed soup bad to warm me up.
This is my second time here and its good food and the place was empty at 6pm but buy 645pm they had already 40 diners. That is a Good Sign
I had the seafood soup with noodles (i think it was #222 on the menu)
A huge bowl of broth with veggies and noodles full of good fish, squid, scallops and shrimps
It was very good
last time I had hot and sour soup and chicken chow mein and they were also very good

Found this place on YELP while I sat in a hotel room so I ventured out only to walk through the door and be greeted by the most miserable guy on earth...and HE was the HOST! Asked for food to go and 30minutes after ordering I was told, " It's coming"! I walked out! You NEVER get a 2nd chance for a first impression!

With my index finger already pointing toward the ceiling, I walked through the door during at noon in hopes to get a seat in this bustling lunch joint. "You mind the big table?", the Chinese lady shouted, gesturing towards a massive family sized round table. Although it wouldn't have been the first time I ever sat solo at a huge shared table, I was relieved to agree to the other option the very friendly older gentleman (who I wasn't even sure was working there at first) presented. As I pulled up a stool and cozied up to the bar in front of the till, he prepared my settings with a kitschy Chinese Zodiac paper place mat and left me with a menu and pad of paper.
It made my mouth water just going through the possibilities of the large menu. At last, I decided on the barbecue duck and pork on fried rice. Although not entirely surprising, the massive platter that arrived within a few minutes was positively overwhelming. The hearty duck had the proper crispy skin while the bright red dyed pork was extremely lean. The green pea and egg speckled fried rice was darker brown than I usually prefer, but also wasn't too dependent on soy sauce for its flavour. When I finally threw in the towel, I still had enough leftovers to fill the rectangular styrofoam box.
The service was pleasant with unsolicited iced water refills. I was amused that a fork and tablespoon were the default cutlery, but found myself for the first time in my life wondering how the heck anyone could eat bone-in meat with a fork and no knife. -

Went there with a friend and was extremely grossed out. Here's a hint, the food has taste because they use MSG on their food. When you tell them you don't want MSG on your food, they look disappointed. Owner hangs out and takes the order, but also just lingers. I don't know about you but I don't like people staring at me while I eat my food. Needless to say, we will not go back there.

Food is ok and cheap. Staff are ok. Certainly a no frills atmosphere. Nothing special. Low on our return list.
